Tonight’s new moon in Cancer is quite a potent one, mostly due to the planets and objects in space that are aspecting this new moon.
This new moon happens at 10:52 PM ET and 7:52 PM PT in the sign of Cancer.
Cancer is the first water sign of the zodiac, meaning that it is a sign that is focused more on feelings and emotions. Cancer is the archetype of the Great Mother — the one who creates life, protects life and sustains life through nurturance, passive creation, and patience.
On the most basic level, a new moon in Cancer encourages us to pause and nurture ourselves as a mother would. It’s a time to fully honor and feel your feelings with acceptance, compassion, and love as you envision a mother who is perfect for you would.
And because it is a new moon, it is the beginning of a 6-month cycle, which ends with the full moon in Cancer that will come during Capricorn season. So, essentially, this new moon is calling you to begin a practice of nurturance that you can carry through for the next 6 months. To get a sense of how this could play out for you specifically, you’d have to look at your birth chart and see what house cancer is in. So for example, if you have Cancer in your 6th house of health, you will be called to re-evaluate how you are nurturing your own health. If Cancer is in the 2nd house, it will be all about your values, money, and resources.
But beyond all of that, there are several interesting aspects going on with this particular new moon that’s making this time feel particularly charged and potent.
