Hello my dear readers,
I know I’ve been MIA lately, which I honestly had every intention not to be. In the beginning of March I had so many plans for new articles on various topics that I’ve been wanting to share, but an illness hit our household. Following that I found myself with a lingering infection that wouldn’t go away cause I couldn’t find an effective treatment. Pair that with a 8-10 month baby sleep regression and, well, that pretty much sums up the last two months for me.
So I’ve recently been focusing a lot on my health and the health of my family in various ways.
During this time, I’ve been really wanting to write, as I know having this outlet is nourishing for me.
For now I just wanted to hop on here and simply say “Hello, I’m still here and alive and well”. I have many works in progress. I have many ideas. It’s just that I’ve been needing some time to slow down, pause and heal.
And, unfortunately, we live in a culture that doesn’t value taking these moments to pause and recharge as much as it does being in a state of constant go-go-go.
So let this be a reminder that it’s okay to pause.
It’s okay to stop.
It’s okay to not be doing the things that this modern western culture views as valuable.
It’s okay to listen to the messages your body is sending you.
It’s okay to do things based on your needs rather than what others (or the culture at large) may expect of you.
It’s okay to care for yourself even if it means disappointing someone else.
After all, it’s the only way to truly prevent burn out.
