Being human just hurts sometimes.
Sometimes we get scratches.
Sometimes we get bruises.
Because getting wounds is a part of being human.
Sometimes we feel discomfort.
Sometimes we feel pain.
Because feeling uncomfortable is a part of being human.
Just because we feel pain and discomfort it doesn’t automatically mean that it’s bad. It doesn’t automatically mean that it needs to be fixed and taken away right away.
Sometimes we need patience.
Sometimes we grow the most by learning how to sit with and be okay with the things that hurt for a little longer than we could yesterday.
And sometimes we need slowness.
Sometimes we need comfort.
Sometimes we need acceptance from someone.
Sometimes we need unconditional support.
Sometimes we just need to hear from someone that it’s okay to be experiencing what we’re experiencing.
And from that place — that’s where secure human connection can happen: When another person can hold us and be present with us to show us how to be okay with the not-so-great parts of the human experience.
